Writing Your Little Bio

Please write a coherent, correctly spelled piece of at least 100 words about yourself—not the character you wish to create.

This is a simple test to see if you can compose a short, coherent write-up. It doesn't have to be epic or earth-shattering, but it does need to be clear and understandable.

The reason is simple: if there's one topic you are an expert on, it's yourself. If there's anything you should be able to write about extensively, it's your own life, experiences, or even the lack thereof. If you struggle to do this, it raises concerns about your ability to write a consistent character and stay engaged with our collective storytelling.

This is your opportunity to make your case for membership by proving you can write effectively.

Avoid filler phrases like:

"I don't know where to start..."
"Gee, this is weird..."
"Uhm, yeah, so what to write?"

Example Essay

Although I was born in Wales, England, an unfortunate series of events led me to America, where I was raised by a kind New England couple who I now think of as my family. For those interested, I was primarily raised in Boston. I moved around a bit while pursuing an education in art and now live in the Pacific Northwest with my two cats: Kirby, named after Jack "The King" Kirby, and Fritz (Lang).

When not slinging a cup of joe at the most well-known coffee house in Seattle (if not the world), I can be found drawing, painting, or going for a run. The weather here in the Evergreen State is pretty awesome most of the time!

When it comes to RPing and online games, I'm not much of a fan of traditional RPGs like Call of Duty (He-he, I wrote "Duty") or Halo, or whatever the current flavor of the day is. I prefer more open-ended, character-driven narratives like those found on this site. Superheroes are my favorite genre because they take me back to my childhood. In an RP, I enjoy action, adventure, smart stories, and expansive concepts. I also enjoy melodrama—because you can't save the world every day, right? Most of all, I love being involved, interacting, and writing with others. I hope to have the opportunity to write with you soon. Life's an adventure—let's write it together!

Yup. To make use of our automated character dibbing process, simply enter a comma-separated list of the characters you are interested in, ranked in order of preference. "Dibbing" means that you are expressing your interest in a character, and if that character becomes available, those with dibbs will have the first opportunity to claim it. Please note, your dibs list cannot exceed seven characters, and multiple people may dib the same character, such as "Wolverine" or "Rogue". Our system will automatically review your list, remove any characters that are unavailable or unrecognized, and store the valid list in your profile for future reference.

If a character you have expressed interest in (dibbed) becomes available, it will automatically be connected to your account, provided you currently have an available open character slot. You will be notified of the character's availability automatically. Similarly, if you apply for a character that is unavailable, the system will select your first available option as a substitute, automatically linking your account to that character and setting all your claims and reserves. Should a character become available in the future, and you have an open character slot at that time, the character will be automatically connected to your account. You can always opt out of or revise your dibs list at any time.

CONSIDERATIONS: You can adopt, create, or reserve ONE CHARACTER to start. The options below let you reserve a wanted or available character. Note that villains cannot be adopted, as they are used soley by narrators for the duration of a specific storyline and are considered NPC's.
WANTED: Select from the top ten wanted characters. Your choice will be linked to your account, and all related claims will be handled automatically.
AVAILABLE: Choose from currently open characters for adoption. Like with wanted characters, your selection will connect to your account, and claims will be managed for you.
NEW (OF/FC): Use the create a NEW CHARACTER section to create a new character, including their faceclaim. All claims will be updated according to your selections. Note that If you apply for character which already exists, you will be connected with that character shell as it currently exists. If you request a character which is considered to be verboten, that request will be instantly denied programmatically.

NOTES ON SUBMITTING A NEW CHARACTER CREATION:

How many characters can I start with? You may start with one (1) character. The limit of additional characters is dependent on your ability to post and reply without causing unnecessary distruption to the site flow.
What kind of character can I make? Create any character (FC/OC) that fits neatly within the MCU: e199999.
Can I make an OC? Yes, you can create an original character (OC) or a Marvel character, provided it fits within our MCU and does not require changes to existing characters or site continuity. For example, creating the daughter of Scarlet Witch as an OC would not be allowed because it would alter her established relatives and site history. However, there is a caveat: if Scarlet Witch's handler wishes to introduce a daughter, it is permissible as long as staff approval is also given.
Can my OC be related to...? It’s possible, depending on how it fits with existing characters and site continuity. If the OC requires edits to an existing character, odds are likely that it will not be excepted.
Can I make a villain? No, villains are managed by site storytellers.
NOTE: * A new character is any character not in our Character Dossiers.
NOTE Creating a new character will overwrite any previous reserves. This means that if selected a wanted character or an open character, they will be replaced by this character with you other selections automatically being shifted to your dibbs list.
NOTE: Requests for prohibited characters will be replaced with the first available option from your desired list, if provided.
